Valérie Gratton

Biography

Dr. Gratton is currently working as a palliative care consultant at Montfort Hospital, a service she founded in 2011. She is a graduate of the University of Ottawa family medicine residency program and completed a year in 2011 with an additional specialization in palliative care with the University of Ottawa. She holds an academic position with the Palliative Care Division of the University of Ottawa as an Assistant Professor, where she coordinates teaching in palliative care at the pre-externship level of the Faculty of Medicine, and contributes to the teaching of external medical students, residents, and palliative care fellows. She participates in several research projects in palliative care. Her particular interests include the integration of palliative care for non-cancerous diseases, the exploration of innovative methods of integrating palliative care into the continuum of care, communication in palliative care, and the specific needs of Franco-Ontarians in end-of-life.
