Dr. Lyne Pitre, Director of Medical Education at Montfort Hospital and Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, has been named the 2021 Franco-Ontarian recipient of the Ordre de la Pléiade.
This distinction, which was created in 1976, recognizes the exceptional merits of people who distinguish themselves through the ideals of La Francophonie by highlighting their remarkable contributions.
The recipients were selected by an all-party committee of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie, whose mandate is to promote democracy, the rule of law, human rights, and to allow the French language and cultural diversity to flourish throughout the world.
Dr. Lyne Pitre is the Director of Medical Education at the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM), as well as Vice President of the Association of University Physicians of Hôpital Montfort (AMUHM) since 2017.
She has demonstrated her commitment to the Francophonie by working to train new Francophone physicians for over twenty years, so that she can significantly increase access to care in French for all.
Appointed to the Order of Ontario in 2018, she also received the Ambassador of French in Medicine Award from the Association des médecins francophones du Canada and the Ottawa Family Physician Award in the same year. In receiving this award, Dr. Lyne Pitre adds this new distinction to her already impressive list of achievements.
The President of the Ontario Chapter of the Assemblée parlementaire de la Francophonie, Ms. France Gélinas, will present the medals at an investiture ceremony in 2022.
