In Francophone Health in Ontario

The Chair is studying the needs of Ontario’s various francophone communities, the capacity of the Ontario health care system to meet these needs, and the impact of language discordance between a health care professional and his or her patient. Finally, this chair is part of a desire to promote interdisciplinary research.

  • Biography of Dr. Jacinthe Savard

    Dr. Jacinthe Savard holds a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Université Laval, a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration and a Doctorate in Public Health from Université de Montréal. From 1983 to 1996, she worked in the Quebec health care system, holding positions that combined clinical and management responsibilities. She joined the University of Ottawa in 1996 as a substitute professor and is now an associate professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science’s Occupational Therapy program, where she teaches the course Occupational Therapy Intervention for Adults (Physical Health) and the course Evidence-Based Practice in Rehabilitation. In 2011, she joined the newly formed GReFoPS (Groupe de recherche sur la formation et les pratiques en santé et service social en contexte francophone minoritaire). In September 2019, she and Professor Louise Bouchard of the Faculty of Social Sciences were awarded the University of Ottawa and Institut du Savoir Montfort Research Chair in Francophone Health in Ontario.
