endif;?>The ISM Research Chair in Medical Pedagogy benefits from a grant of $50,000 per year for five years. It is the result of a partnership between the Centre d’appui pédagogique en santé pour la francophonie “Center for Educational Support in Healthcare for the Francophonie” (CAPSAF) of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa and the Institut du Savoir Montfort (ISM).
The purpose of the Chair is to develop an innovative research program in education to optimize the training of medical students, residents and physicians with continuing medical education so they can become capable of working in multi-professional teams. This will allow them to meet the healthcare needs of the French-speaking population in Canada.
The Chair’s team is working on the evaluation and improvement of the various learning activities deployed in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, at the ISM and at the internship sites at Montfort. New learning activities created should be adapted to the needs of learners and supervisors. For example, we are interested in self-learning, active methods, simulation (online and face-to-face), and the development of observation and measurement tools for evaluating the level of knowledge.
The projects ultimately aim to improve the training of students, residents and physicians, thereby contributing to the well-being of patients through the provision of the highest quality healthcare.
