Biography
Dr. Andy Pan, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Pan completed his medical school and residency/fellowship at the University of Ottawa. He is dual certified in Emergency Medicine (2013) and Critical Care Medicine (2014). He is an Assistant Professor with the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa and Attending Physician at Hôpital Montfort with the Division of Critical Care Medicine and at The Ottawa Hospital with the Department of Emergency Medicine. He is also a Transport Medicine Physician with Ontario’s air ambulance service (Ornge) and serves as the Critical Care Advisor to the Medical Advisory Committee.
His areas of interest and research include simulation-based medical education, critical care transport, and early management of critically-ill patients. His current projects include using 3D printing for medical simulation, emergency physicians’ ability to adequately landmark the cricothyroid membrane, and critical care transport of chest pain patients. He is the lead author on the Transport and Disposition chapter of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada’s e-book Navigating Medical Emergencies.
His teaching interests are in the areas of airway management and mechanical ventilation.
