Biography
Dr. Tezeta Mitiku has been a Psychiatrist at the Montfort hospital since 2019, with a special interest in Women’s Health across the lifespan. She completed her residency at the University of Ottawa with a focus on Perinatal Mental Health. She holds an academic position with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa, as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Mitiku is currently serving as the Research Director for the Department of Psychiatry at the Montfort Hospital.
Dr. Mitiku obtained her Master’s degree in Community Health and Epidemiology from Queen’s University in 2008 and developed experience utilizing large-scale population health datasets (ICES) and novel approaches to using data obtained from electronic medical records. She is currently involved in several research projects including access to primary care for patients with severe and persistent mental illness during the COVID 19 pandemic, as well as the impact of language discordance on patient care.
