Biography

Dr. Emannuel Egom holds a PhD from the University of Parma (Italy) Medical School (MD with honors) and the University of Manchester (PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine). He recently moved to Ontario from Nova Scotia where he was Medical Director of the Cardiac Health Clinic and Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Saint Martha’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Dalhousie University.

Prior to that, he was also Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the University of Dublin/Trinity College. Dr. Emannuel Egom speaks French and Italian. He is passionate about sport, family and caring for people.

His research interests include heart failure, from its molecular mechanisms and signaling pathways, epidemiology, detection, prevention and complications, including pulmonary hypertension, to the effective implementation of novel pharmacological therapies and the planning of randomized trials of new treatments. Other research interests include the role of sphingolipids in the pathophysiology of ischemic heart disease and its complications (HF); and the role of natriuretic peptide receptors (NPRs), particularly type C (NPR-C), in the development of pulmonary hypertension.
