Geneviève Rouleau
Biography
Dr. Geneviève Rouleau, Ph.D. nurse, is a professor in the Department of Nursing at the Université du Québec en Outaouais. She holds a doctorate in nursing from Université Laval. She completed her postdoctoral training in implementation science at the Women’s College Hospital Institute for Health System Solutions and Virtual Care in Toronto. Her experience as research coordinator (16 years) at the “Chaire de recherche sur les nouvelles pratiques de soins infirmiers” led her to participate in the development of more than a dozen virtual nursing interventions aimed at supporting people in the self-management of their chronic health condition. Through the medium of these personalized Web interventions and short video capsules, she embodied the role of coach, that of the virtual nurse accompanying people asynchronously in the adoption of health behaviors (e.g. medication adherence, physical activity, smoking cessation). Her doctoral studies enabled her to develop a digital simulation aimed at optimizing nurses’ interpersonal skills, based on the principles of motivational interviewing.
