Biography

Heather Flowers is an Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science at the University of Ottawa. She has been a speech therapist for over 10 years, and has completed her doctoral studies in an epidemiology clinic focusing on swallowing disorders at the University of Toronto.

Research Interests

  • Exploration of neuroanatomic and behavioral concordance between swallowing and communication
  • Identification of the determinants of concurrent disorders of swallowing and communication throughout life
  • Establishment of effective interventions to promote the remediation of swallowing disorders
