Helen-Maria Vasiliadis, MSc, PhD

Biography

Dr. Vasiliadis has a doctorate degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McGill University and a master’s degree in Pharmacology from the Université de Montréal . She is currently an Associate Professor and a Researcher at the Université de Sherbrooke in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and at the Research Centre of the Charles Lemoyne Hospital at Longueuil.

Her research program is to define the contours of a balanced Mental Health Care System, that can adequately and fully support psychiatric outreach services offered to a population. To promote a balanced Mental Health Care System and ensure fair access to services for people with common and/or seriors mental disorders, political decisions on the organization and allocation of mental health resources should be formulated from evidence on interventions and services offered, the population needs and service use ( residential , community ) at the individual, regional and provincial level.

The research program operates clinical bases, administrative and population data from Canadian and international investigations. The research program of Dr. Vasiliadis affect the determinants associated with the use of psychotropic drugs and mental health services to the population ( equity, accessibility ), quality of life and cost analysis and efficiency of health services to different customers with psychological distress and serious mental disorders.
