Isabelle Burnier

Biography

Dr. Isabelle Burnier is a family physician. She graduated from the school of medicine at the Université de Grenoble in France. She has been an adjunct professor with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa since 2010. She acts as leader for simulated clinics in the Pre-Clerkship, Francophone stream, since 2008. Her involvement in teaching is primarily within the undergraduate program (case-based learning, physician skills development).

Dr. Burnier has a Master in Education degree, concentration in Health Professions Education, at the University of Ottawa. She is also active in the development and management of various health projects in French in Canada.

She is a member of the Bureau des affaires francophones’ Writing Club (critical analysis of literature in medical education), a member of the Centre for the Support of Health Care Education in French (CAPSAF) and she sits on the Medicine and Humanities Committee.

Her areas of research in medical education include the involvement of patients in the teaching of medicine, Medicine and the Humanities Program, and particularly narrative medicine.
