Biography
Dr Bradwejn holds a doctorate in medicine from the Université de Sherbrooke and a Diploma in Psychiatry from McGill University . He received research grants in order to subspecialize in psychopharmacology at McGill University and in Neuropsychopharmacology at the Université de Montréal. He was a professor at McGill University and at the University of Toronto before making career in Ottawa as a Director of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa.
Dr Bradwejn also served as chief psychiatrist at the Mental Health Centre at the Royal Ottawa and head of the Department of Psychiatry at The Ottawa Hospital. Since 2007, he was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.
Dr Bradwejn is active as a researcher in psychiatry and mental health. His fields of interest are psychobiology, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy for anxiety disorders and mood. He is internationally recognized for his work on the role of cholecystokinin (CCK) in panic attacks. The targeted populations are adults living with these disorders as well as their children, who might suffer from these disorders.
