Jean-Daniel Jacob, PhD

Biography

Jean-Daniel Jacob has a doctoral degree in nursing from the University of Ottawa. He is currently an assistant professor at the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Ottawa.  His research interests primarily concern psychiatry and forensic psychiatry in an effort to explore, describe and understand clinical realities, but also to question their structure and organizational functioning. This approach encourages the development of scientific knowledge in psychiatric nursing care without overlooking factors of an esthetic, personal, ethical and socio-political nature related to nursing care. His work centres on two specific topics: epistemological and ethical issues in nursing, and violence and risk management in psychiatric settings.
