Biography
Léonel Philibert holds a doctorate in public and community health from Laval University. He also holds a master’s degree in development sciences and two bachelor’s degrees in medical technology and law from the Université d’État d’Haïti. He is an assistant professor at the University of French Ontario and an associate professor at Université Laval. He is a regular researcher at the UNESCO Chair on Migration and Francophonie in Minority Contexts. He has worked as an executive at Haiti’s National Public Health Laboratory and in several international NGOs. He has coordinated several research and intervention projects in Haiti, Canada and Burkina Faso. He worked as a research professional at the Réseau d’évaluation et de l’innovation en santé durable (REI-SD) and was a teacher-researcher at the Université d’État d’Haïti.
Research interests
Health of minority populations, immigrant health, reproductive health, global health, social inequalities in health and citizen participation. He adopts theoretical and epistemological insights associated with social justice, intersectionality and gender equality.
