Biography

Michelle Lalonde has a PhD in Nursing from the University of Toronto. She is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa. In addition, she is the leader of the research component of “Francophonie et Santé” at the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Health and Nursing Research (CHIRSC). Professor Lalonde’s research program focuses on “Preparation and Transition to Nursing Practice”. This research program has three main objectives: 1) to explore the transition of nurses during key transition points, student-to-nurse, shift changes, and changes in scope of practice, 2) to evaluate the integration of simulation throughout the learning continuum, and 3) to evaluate the relationship between nurses’ work and work environments on nurse, patient and health system outcomes. The theme related to the Francophonie is integrated through its research program.
