Biography
Dr. Mohammed Nassoh Hafez , FRCPC, FACC, FCCP
Graduated from the University of Ottawa Heart Institute after completing a three-year Cardiology Fellowship from 2009 to 2012. Dr. Hafez is Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons certified in Internal Medicine and in Cardiology. He is also American Board of Internal Medicine (Critical Care Medicine Certification Program)
Dr. Hafez is certified in Cardiovascular Computed Tomography by Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT) and in Nuclear Cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC). He is also a Testamur in Echocardiography by the National Board Examination Special Competence in Adult Echocardiography.
He is a Fellow of the Royal college of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians.
Dr. Hafez completed an Internal Medicine residency in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he then completed an Intensive Care Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh.
He began active practice as a Chief of Medicine and ICU in Carbonear, Newfoundland, and later as an Assistant Professor at Memorial University, in St. Johns. Dr. Hafez then moved to St. Catharines, ON where he launched a new ICU model in the St.Catharines General Hospital and worked as a full time Intensivist.
His interest in research is focused in using technology and mobile application to enhance patient’s informed health decisions. He is the Principle investigator for a pilot project being conducted at Hôpital Montfort, with approved funding of $100,000 for over two years, for the application (Symptoms Pal) to establish patient prospective of the self-triage app and validating the app finding with emergency room physician in a double-blinded approach.
He is involved in a new project Smart Book for cardiology physical exam, in collaboration with University of Ottawa heart institute Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, Institute of Technology in Morocco, and Montfort Institut du Savoir. The main objective of this project is to transform the medical students and residents learning process using new technology such as artificial intelligence and robotics.
His major area of clinical research and continuous medical education development interests include cardiac imaging, post myocardial infarction treatment, heart failure management, and medical education, as well as review of clinical guidelines and best practices (i,e. CIHI choosing wisely initiative).
